Apple dominates the headphone market in the US (and beyond) thanks to AirPods and Beats.
According to the latest data shared by Statista, AirPods account for 34.4% of the headphone market share in the country. The advantage becomes even greater if we also consider Beats headphones, which are positioned in second place with a share of 15.3%. In total, Apple accounts for nearly 50% of the headphone share in the United States.
Wedbush analysts estimate that AirPods represent a $20 billion annual business and that Apple is close to reaching 100 million units of wireless headphones sold. Statista also defines AirPods as “the most popular headphones on the planet”:
“While many were impressed with the technology behind Apple’s first true wireless earbuds, their design drew a lot of criticism and at first there were jokes about the look, price and general appeal of the headphones. AirPods. Five years later, it’s clear that Apple is still the last to laugh, as the AirPods, now in their third generation, are arguably the most popular headphones on the planet. »
Just behind Beats are Bose headphones with a 12.5% market share in the US, followed by Samsung in fourth place with 12.2%. JBL (owned by Samsung), Sony, Skullcandy and LG rank among the top eight.
Although the figures from Statista are only for the United States, similar figures are also recorded in other parts of the world, including Europe.
