AirPods Pro 2: the first supposed pictures and information

While Apple has formalized the AirPods 3, now images supposed to unveil the AirPods Pro 2 are appearing. If we stick to the images published by MacRumors, there will be mainly a change at the level of the charging case rather than at the level of the headphones.

Mostly a change for the AirPods Pro 2 charging case

Rumors had so far announced that the AirPods Pro 2 will have a new design, including the removal of the stem on each earbud. Today’s photos (if genuine) suggest this won’t be the case and the headphones should look roughly like the existing model. The difference is in the optical sensor which has disappeared on the lower part of the rod. Apple has ditched optical sensors in favor of a skin-sensing sensor in the AirPods 3, so it’s possible the AirPods Pro 2 will go in the same direction.

The real changes would therefore be on the AirPods Pro 2 charging case side. There are holes at the bottom for speakers, which is an unusual choice for the AirPods case design. This would be in connection with iOS 16, with Apple adding a new feature where the Locate system would be available to find the case and headphones. The speaker holes would allow the product to emit sound in the event of loss and thus allow the user to find it.

The case also features a metal buckle on the side. It is supposed to be used to attach a strap. But there is no more information on the subject.

The AirPods Pro 2 should see the light of day sometime in 2022. There is no date yet.
