There are growing hints of Apple’s upcoming AR/VR headset launch, as evidenced by references to ” realityOS discoveries in Apple’s open source code.
” RealityOS could be the operating system that will run on the headset and several references are already present in the dyld open source repository and in the app store loading logs. This indicates that the headset will have its own App Store open to third-party developers who want to distribute applications dedicated to augmented reality and virtual reality. Among other things, Apple could provide a simulator of realityOS as soon as the next WWDC in June, in order to allow developers to test their applications before the actual launch of the headset.
The first Apple headset should be technically very advanced, but also very expensive and bulky, so much so that the company is already working on a second model, more “consumer”, smaller and cheaper. The launch of the first helmet is planned between the end of 2022 and the first months of 2023.
