Apple continues to expand its self-driving vehicle testing program in California.
According to new data published by the California Department of Motor Vehicles, Apple now has 10 new registered drivers in its crew. The number of autonomous vehicles, however, remains at 69 vehicles.
The number of pilots has changed several times over the years, with the Apple team at one point approaching 200 crew members before reducing its units. The number of vehicles has been 69 for some time, while there are currently 158 drivers.
Remember that the tests only concern the autonomous driving system that Apple is developing, and not the actual car that could debut in a few years. At the moment, the company uses Lexus SUVs equipped with LiDAR systems, radars and cameras.
