Apple ranks first in the earphones and headphones market in the United States. According to Statista, the group is far ahead of its competitors, thanks in particular to AirPods.
Apple is far ahead with its AirPods
Apple’s market share for headphones and earphones in the United States is 34.4%. The AirPods contribute a lot, especially since Apple offers several model models. There are AirPods as well as AirPods Pro or AirPods Max. There is (almost) something for every budget… although the cheapest model (2nd generation AirPods) still costs 149 euros at Apple (and 129 euros at Amazon)
According to Dan Ives, an analyst at Wedbush, AirPods represent a $20 billion annual market. He adds that Apple should reach the milestone of 100 million copies sold in the course of 2022.
In fact, Apple is also in second place in the ranking. Indeed, Beats is present with a 15.3% share and Beats is owned by Apple. Apple and Beats earphones and headphones thus have a market share of 49.7% in the United States, or one in two models. We then find Bose (12.5%), Samsung (12.2%), JBL (11.4%), Sony (11.4%), Skullcandy (8.4%) and LG (7%).
This success for the AirPods was not necessarily won at the start. Many people laughed at the design of Apple’s wireless headphones and the case. And in the end, we can see that the sales are significantly better than the competition.
