Apple continues to expand its self-driving vehicle testing program in California.
According to new data released by the California Department of Motor Vehicles, Apple now has 89 registered drivers on its team. The number of autonomous vehicles remains unchanged at 69 units. This confirms that Apple is once again increasing the number of tests for its self-driving system after a slow period.
Remember that Apple is not testing its autonomous car in California, but only its system which could be integrated into a future Apple Car. Currently, the company is testing Lexus SUVs equipped with dedicated LiDAR systems, radars and cameras.
