Apple is reportedly developing the Apple Studio Display

According to 9to5mac, Apple is working on a new monitor called “Apple Studio Display” with a higher resolution than the Pro Display XDR.

At this time, however, it’s unclear whether the new Apple Studio Display replaces the Pro Display XDR, introduced in 2019, or a new option in the company’s monitor lineup with distinct features. According to reports, the new monitor will have 7K resolution.

The Pro Display XDR has a 32-inch 6K (6016 x 3384 pixels) panel with a density of 218 pixels per inch. A higher resolution could cause Apple’s new monitor to reach a pixel density of 245 ppi or stay around the same density as the current model if the panel is larger than 36 inches.

In fact, this is not the first time that there has been talk of new Apple external monitors, since as early as July 2021 Apple was testing a new external monitor with the code name “J327” and the integrated A13 chip. According to sources, the Apple Studio Display has its own model number J327. In addition, Apple would also work on a monitor dedicated to Apple Silicon chips.

At the moment, therefore, there is no precise information on this, given that Mark Gurman had reported that the company was also working on a cheaper monitor than the Pro Display XDR, which we doubt is this Apple Studio Display. Plus, we don’t even know when it might be announced, but we can rule out seeing it as early as March 8.
