Apple will soon fix Face ID without changing the whole iPhone

Repairing Face ID on iPhones will be a little easier in the Apple Store since employees will be able to do a repair without changing the whole phone. This will soon be in place according to MacRumors.

Best for Face ID Repair

Apple said that authorized technicians will soon have access to a new TrueDepth camera replacement part containing all of the modules for Face ID and the front sensor, which will allow the iPhone to be repaired in its entirety. Apple said the move will help reduce the number of full iPhone repairs, as part of the company’s commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of its products. This will affect iPhone XS and newer models.

Face ID debuted on the iPhone X in 2017. But that model doesn’t qualify for the new repair treatment. As said before, this concerns iPhone XS and newer models. It is not specified why the iPhone X is excluded from the list.

The “simplified” change of Face ID on the iPhone will soon be available in Apple Store and at Apple authorized repairers. But there is no exact date yet.
