Containment in China: expected delays for MacBook Pro deliveries

High-end MacBook Pros may experience delivery delays due to lockdowns in some major Chinese cities where Apple’s suppliers are located. However, there should be no problem for the iPhone SE 2022.

China lockdown, MacBook Pro

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo note that delivery estimates for the new MacBook Pro are getting longer by three to five weeks after authorities in Shanghai and Kunshan declared lockdowns in their respective areas due to the spread of COVID-19 cases. These confinements effectively led to the cessation of production in several factories of Apple suppliers.

The iPhone SE 2022 shouldn’t be long, however, given that the current stock of smartphones is sufficient to meet demand that Kuo describes as “lackluster”. In contrast, high-end MacBook Pros are in high demand around the world.

Specifically, it was the Pegatron and Quanta Computer factories that suffered blockages in their factories, but the same has also affected other minor suppliers.
