iOS 15.3: the release candidate (RC) is available

Apple has just released the release candidate (RC) of iOS 15.3 (build 19D49) on iPhone and iPadOS 15.3 on iPad. This version comes after two betas and means that the final version is not very far away.

Availability of iOS 15.3 release candidate

The iOS 15.3 release candidate is currently available from developers. Apple should normally offer the same version quickly for public testers. It could be tonight or tomorrow.

iOS 15.3 is a surprising update because it doesn’t add anything special. At least that was the case with the first betas. We were only allowed small improvements and bug fixes. These are of course welcome, but one wonders why it is not iOS 15.2.2 given the content.

In any case, you can recover it now. If you have the profile to install betas for developers, go to Settings > General > Software Update. You will be able to download the iOS 15.3 release candidate.

When will the final version be available? Everything suggests that it will be for next week. It is even possible that the release candidate of the day is identical to the version that will be distributed to the public. It all depends on whether it includes major bugs. In this case, Apple will correct them before offering the stable version.
