iPad OLED, new information emerges on future models

In recent hours, new rumors have emerged regarding the upcoming iPad and iPad Air.

According to the latest information, Apple will release a 10th generation iPad in late 2022, before a complete redesign expected in 2023. The 10th generation iPad and iPad Air 5, also expected in 2022, will include 5G connectivity and Wi-Fi 6. A14 processor for iPad, while iPad Air is expected to integrate A15 Bionic chip.

One of the new features of the next iPad Air will likely be the 12 MP ultra-wide front camera. This high-resolution camera will enable the Center Stage feature, so the shot can always follow the user during video calls. Center Stage is already available on the latest iPad Pro, iPad mini and iPad models.

Hardware-wise, the iPad Air 5 will be similar to the sixth-generation iPad mini, featuring the aforementioned A15 Bionic processor and 4GB of RAM. No design changes are expected: 10.9-inch screen, USB-C port and Touch ID integrated into the power button.

The new iPad Air is expected to be unveiled this spring, along with the third-generation iPhone SE.

Meanwhile, Apple is reportedly working to introduce the first OLED iPad in 2024. Specifically, LG Display has pledged to invest $2.8 billion and expand its plant in Paju, South Korea, precisely to ensure capacity of production required by Apple for OLED panels. BOE could also become a supplier of OLED panels for the first iPads in 2024.
