iPad Pro with M2 chip and MagSafe charging by the end of the year?

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the next generation iPad Pro models will launch in the fall of this year.

In his “Power On” newsletter, Gurman speculated that since Apple didn’t launch any new iPad Pros during the “Peek Performance” event, it’s reasonable to expect new models arrive between September and November of this year. In a previous report, Gurman said that Apple plans “the craziest line of new hardware products in its history” for the fall of 2022, and that the new iPad Pro models should not be missing among these new products.

Since the debut of the line, the iPad Pro‌ have been launched in March 2016, June 2017, October 2018, March 2020 and April 2021, which means that Apple seems to take 13-16 months to update this product line. Gurman’s expectations seem to suggest a longer lead time for the iPad Pro‌ this year, as the launch could be up to 19 months after the current model’s release. It also means that the current 2021 ‌iPad‌ Pro could be some of the most durable models yet.

What can we expect from the next-gen iPad Pro? According to Gurman, the new ‌iPad Pro‌ models will feature MagSafe charging and the new “M2” chip. The latter is expected to have the same 8-core processor as the M1‌ chip, but will benefit from improvements in speed and power efficiency thanks to TSMC’s 4-nanometer manufacturing process. Instead, there will be news for GPU cores, with 9- and 10-core options, versus the 7- and 8-core options of the ‌‌M1‌‌ chip.

If confirmed, will you replace your current iPad Pro with the new model?
