iPhone 14: TSMC would be in charge of all production of 5G modems

Already the sole founder of Ax and Apple Silicon processors, TSMC would again get a big order from Apple. The Economic Daily News reports that the Taiwanese semiconductor giant would be responsible for all production of 5G modems for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro.

Negotiations between TSMC and Apple would have resulted in Samsung’s withdrawal from the supply chain from the iPhone’s modem. Moreover, sources familiar with the matter say that the 5G modem chips of the iPhone 14 will be produced at the fineness of engraving 6nm. The reduction in consumption would be significantly reduced compared to the Qualcomm modems assembled in the iPhone 13 (and earlier).

Apple is also reportedly working on radio frequency and millimeter wave components that connect to the modem itself, as well as a power management chip again just for the iPhone 14 modem.
