The iPhone 14 Pro could get a bigger screen thanks to a revamped design Apple is working on.

As confirmed by 9to5Mac, the iPhone 14 range expected in the fall will not have a “mini” model. Specifically, the non-‘Pro’ iPhone 14s (codenames D27 and D28) will only be available in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch versions, with no 5.4-inch variant.

These mid-range phones will have a screen with the same resolution as the current iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, but the screen of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models (codenames D73 and D74) may be slightly higher to offer the new “notch + pill” design which will replace the notch.

As for the processor situation, the sources confirm that there will be two new iPhone 14 models with A15 chip, while the Pro versions will have a completely renewed chip. It should be remembered that Apple already has two different versions of the A15 chip, one of which has an additional GPU core and 6 GB of RAM, and is used in the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max models.

Either way, all iPhone 14s (standard and Pro) will have 6GB of RAM. Additionally, Apple could rebrand the chip as “A15X”, as it has done in the past with the A12Z chip in the 2020 iPad Pro, which was essentially an A12X chip with an extra GPU core.

A few weeks before the announcement of the iPhone 13, some rumors suggested that Apple was working on satellite communication capabilities to integrate on these models. Although these features were never added to the iPhone 13 lineup, 9to5Mac sources claim that Apple may bring this new feature to the iPhone 14. Currently, the company is testing prototypes capable of sending SMS by satellite and the project is known internally under the code name ” Steve“.
