New external monitor and Mac mini at Apple event

A few days before the Apple event, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reveals that with the iPhone SE 3 and the iPad Air, the Cupertino company could launch a new Mac mini and a new external monitor.

In addition to the new 7K resolution Studio Display, whose possible activation date is not known at this time, Apple is expected to announce a new external monitor on which the company “finished the job months ago”:

“I wouldn’t rule out Apple previewing its next-gen external monitor. I’ve been told that Apple actually finished work months ago and the device will launch shortly after last year’s MacBook Pro. Apple’s latest monitor arrived in 2019 alongside the Intel-based Mac Pro. A monitor would also explain the use of the word “peek” in the event invitation. »

Additionally, the Bloomberg reporter thinks Apple will launch a new Mac mini with an M2 or M1 Pro chip:

“A developer source told me that Apple has been testing several Macs with a new chip over the past few weeks, which includes an eight-core processor (four efficiency cores and four high-performance cores) and 10 GPU cores. These are exactly the specifications of the M2 chip.

Apple has been testing this new chip on machines with macOS 12.3 (which should be released in the coming weeks and work on new Macs) and a future macOS 12.4, as well as macOS 13, which will be presented in June at WWDC 2022.

Gurman also notes that Apple is readying the next batch of Macs for the next few months, likely between May and June. It is therefore very likely that the company will unveil a new iMac Pro or Mac Pro in a few months.
