Rumors of a new 11-inch iPad Pro with miniLED display are further denied, as Apple seems to want to continue using OLED or LCD technology.
According to analyst Ross Young, Apple will focus on miniLED technology only for larger, more expensive displays, such as those in the 12.9-inch iPad Pro or MacBook Pros.
“While it was previously thought that Apple would also introduce mini-LEDs on the 11-inch iPad Pro, we no longer believe that to be the case, at least not this year. Apple is reportedly targeting mini-LED only on larger, more expensive screens. We expect Apple to introduce mini-LEDs on a 27″ monitor, which may launch in June with the new Mac Pro. We believe the 27″ mini-LED monitor will have a resolution of 5K at 120Hz, although 5K at 120Hz would require HDMI 2.1 and limit the number of Apple devices that would work with this display. »
The analyst then added that the 12.9-inch and 11-inch iPad Pro may come with OLED panels in the future.
Since Ross Young is deeply committed to the display industry, his claims should be taken seriously.
