The legal battle between Apple and Qualcomm is not over yet

The patent dispute between Apple and Qualcomm is surprisingly reopened, after an initial agreement reached in 2019.

For years, Apple has purchased modem chips from Qualcomm for its iPhones. These modems contained patented technology that Qualcomm billed Apple in addition to the purchase of the chips, so much so that the Cupertino company opposed this double request. From there, several legal battles began, until Apple and Qualcomm managed to find a new agreement for the supply of the modem chips.

However, Qualcomm was still unhappy that one of its patents was declared invalid and continued to pursue the appeal process. In this process, Qualcomm will have a chance to prove that one of its smartphone chip patents challenged by Apple is valid.

We’ll see how Tim Cook responds to this decision.
